exaltoenergia.it
exalto energy & innovation
has been working in the renewable energy field since 2008, combining its energy knowledge with IT skills to identify energy efficiency and innovation interventions through strategic consulting, plant design and installation, research and development activities. The mixture of energy and ICT represents a central element of the activity in Exalto for the progress of renewable sources and energy saving, in light of the progressive drop out of centralized production from fossil sources in favor of a widespread network of small producers and consumers in a bidirectional electric grid. In the last few years the company combined its solid knowledge in renewable energies with the interest in monitoring and remote control systems, investing in software development and ICT, in order to equip the installations (heat pumps, photovoltaic, lighting, cogeneration, etc.) with a flexible and easy-to-use control system, customized for their customers’ needs. Exalto previously participated in research projects within which it developed interfacingand driving systems for measurement equipment and intervention devices.

regalgrid.com
regalgrid
aims to create a sustainable, advanced and innovative system of energy production, storage and distribution. Regalgrid has developed a technology platform that enables the various nodes (renewable energy generators, accumulators and consumers) to share the renewable energy generated or excess storage among the various users belonging to the energy sharing platform (the energy community), in order to maximise investment in these assets. The technology platform allows to manage in real time the data collected by the network meters and generation and storage devices, through a local gateway/controller (called SNOCU, Smart NOde Control Unit), sending in real time all the information collected by the different devices (photovoltaic inverters, storage systems, smart meters, electric car charging columns, etc.) to a platform on the cloud, where the commands that each device will have to implement according to its status, the status of the other nodes, and generation and consumption forecasts are processed.

unipa.it
università degli studi di palermo
provides its contribution to the project through the involvement of the Department of Engineering, in detail with the groups coordinated by Prof. Eleonora Riva Sanseverino for the smart grids, electrical systems, production and management of renewable energy and by Prof. Pierluigi Gallo for the ICT and blockchain contribution, which represent the University's reference organs in the thematic area of reference. These groups promote the enhancement of teaching, research and development activities in a broad scientific-cultural context, ranging from the engineering sectors of electrical power systems, machines and converters, electrical engineering, production and management of energy sources (fossil, nuclear and renewable), energy and environmental resources, to electronics, telecommunications and automation. The Research and Innovation competences present in the Department have in recent years supported many national and international research projects and cooperation initiatives about the topics of energy storage, renewable sources and electric mobility; in most of these areas, the projects have been developed in close collaboration with the industrial system.
